The science behind your daily ritual

Functional ingredients. Meaningful doses.
No fairy dust.

Rainbow Dust pouch surrounded by functional mushrooms and coffee

Rainbow Dust was built around a simple idea:

Focus + energy = fuel for daily momentum.

Inside every serving is a carefully selected blend of functional mushrooms, adaptogens and essential nutrients, chosen for the compounds they contain, the research behind them and the role they can play in supporting everyday performance.

No pseudo-science. No mystery blends.

Just functional ingredients, thoughtfully combined into one ridiculously easy daily ritual.

Quality & potency

What goes into your daily ritual matters.

Not all mushroom powders or adaptogen blends are created equal.

Where ingredients come from, which part of the mushroom is used, how it is extracted and how the finished product is tested can all matter.

That's why we take quality seriously at every stage of Rainbow Dust.

  • Adaptogen-powered

Rainbow Dust combines functional mushrooms with carefully selected adaptogens and nutrients designed around one purpose: helping fuel focus + energy for modern life.

  • Third-party lab tested

Quality shouldn't rely on taking our word for it. Rainbow Dust is independently tested by third-party laboratories as part of our quality assurance process.

  • Made in England

Rainbow Dust is manufactured in England, giving us greater oversight of the product that eventually ends up in your cup.

Quality & potency

The good stuff. Without the unnecessary stuff.

  • Vegan & cruelty-free
  • Non-GMO
  • No added sugar
  • No artificial additives
  • Gluten-free
  • Functional ingredients

Our mushrooms

Mushroom powder isn't the same as mushroom extract.

Lion's Mane mushroom held in an open hand

A mushroom might look simple. Its chemistry isn't.

Functional mushrooms contain numerous naturally occurring compounds, including:

  • beta-glucans
  • polysaccharides
  • terpenoids
  • and other mushroom-specific metabolites.

The challenge is getting those compounds out of the mushroom and into a form that can actually be used in a functional blend.

That's where extraction comes in.

Why we dual extract our mushrooms

Different mushroom compounds dissolve differently.

Some are water-soluble, while others are more effectively extracted using alcohol.

Hot water being poured to make Rainbow Dust

Dual extraction uses both methods to access a broader spectrum of naturally occurring mushroom compounds than relying on a single extraction method alone.

Think of it like brewing coffee: simply eating a coffee bean isn't the same thing as extracting what's inside it.

Better extraction. Broader spectrum. More intentional formulation.

Fruiting body only

The mushroom.
Not the growing medium.

A mushroom's fruiting body above ground and its mycelium network below
Fruiting body

The mushroom itself.

Mycelium

The root-like fungal network from which mushrooms grow.

Mycelium products are sometimes cultivated on grains such as rice or oats, meaning the resulting ingredient can contain material from the growing substrate alongside the fungal material.

For our functional mushroom ingredients, we use fruiting bodies.

It's a simple formulation decision: when we're adding functional mushrooms to Rainbow Dust, we want the mushroom itself.

Lion's Mane

1,000mg per serving

Lion's Mane

Lion's Mane (Hericium erinaceus) is probably the most recognisable functional mushroom in the world of cognitive performance.

And there's a reason it has attracted so much scientific interest.

What's inside it?

Lion's Mane contains naturally occurring compounds including hericenones and erinacines, which have been investigated for their relationship with pathways involved in nerve growth and brain function.

Researchers are particularly interested in how these compounds may interact with nerve growth factor (NGF), a protein involved in the growth, maintenance and survival of certain neurons.

What has the research found?

Human research is still developing, but the early findings are interesting.

A 2023 randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled pilot study in healthy adults found that Lion's Mane supplementation was associated with faster performance on one cognitive task following a single dose, alongside a trend towards reduced subjective stress following 28 days.

More recent research has been mixed: a 2025 placebo-controlled study found improvements on an individual psychomotor task but no significant overall improvement across composite cognition or mood measures.

In other words: promising, but not magic, and exactly the kind of ingredient worth continuing to study.

Why it's in Rainbow Dust

  • Mental performance
  • Focus
  • Everyday clarity

Lion's Mane gives the Rainbow Dust formula its brain-first foundation.

For energy

Cordyceps

1,000mg per serving

Cordyceps

If Lion's Mane is about the mind, Cordyceps is our mushroom for physical energy and stamina.

Cordyceps has a long history of traditional use, but modern research has become particularly interested in its relationship with oxygen utilisation, cellular energy and exercise performance.

What's inside it?

One of Cordyceps' best-known compounds is cordycepin, alongside polysaccharides and other naturally occurring bioactives.

Cordycepin is structurally similar to adenosine, a molecule closely involved in cellular energy processes, which is one reason Cordyceps has become an interesting area of performance research.

What has the research found?

In a randomised, double-blind study, supplementation with a Cordyceps militaris-containing mushroom blend was associated with improvements in measures including VO₂ max and time to exhaustion after consistent supplementation.

More recently, a 2026 randomised crossover trial using 1g of Cordyceps militaris extract found higher resting oxygen uptake and faster reaction times following exhaustive exercise, although it did not increase peak exercise oxygen consumption.

The evidence is still developing, but it gives researchers good reason to continue investigating Cordyceps in relation to physical and cognitive performance.

The antioxidant-rich mushroom

Chaga

1,000mg per serving

Chaga

Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) has been used traditionally for generations and has become an increasingly studied functional mushroom.

Its appeal comes from its unusually rich chemical profile.

What's inside it?

Chaga contains a mixture of naturally occurring compounds including polyphenols, polysaccharides and triterpenoids.

Many of these compounds have demonstrated antioxidant activity in laboratory research, meaning they can interact with free radicals and pathways associated with oxidative stress.

What has the research found?

Laboratory studies have demonstrated antioxidant and free-radical-scavenging activity from Chaga extracts and isolated Chaga compounds.

However, this is an area where it's important to separate interesting science from marketing hype. Human clinical evidence remains limited, particularly for claims around mental performance, energy or mood.

So we don't pretend otherwise.

Why it's in Rainbow Dust

Chaga contributes a broad spectrum of mushroom-derived compounds to the Rainbow Dust formula and complements Lion's Mane and Cordyceps as part of our three-mushroom stack.

KSM-66® Ashwagandha

300mg per serving

KSM-66® Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is an adaptogenic herb with centuries of use in Ayurveda.

But unlike many traditional ingredients, it now also has a growing body of modern human research behind it. Rainbow Dust uses KSM-66®, a branded, standardised root extract.

What's inside it?

The compounds most closely associated with Ashwagandha are called withanolides.

These naturally occurring plant compounds are one of the major areas of interest in research into Ashwagandha's adaptogenic properties.

What has the research found?

Multiple randomised controlled trials have investigated Ashwagandha in people experiencing everyday stress. Studies using standardised Ashwagandha extracts have reported improvements in perceived stress scores, alongside changes in biomarkers such as cortisol.

And the research doesn't stop at stress. A placebo-controlled trial specifically using KSM-66® in healthy athletic adults reported greater improvements in VO₂ max than placebo following eight and twelve weeks of supplementation.

Other trials have investigated Ashwagandha in relation to cognition, recovery and psychological wellbeing.

Why it's in Rainbow Dust

Because performance isn't just about pushing harder. Sometimes it's about being able to stay composed while you do it.

Maca Root

250mg per serving

Maca Root

Maca (Lepidium meyenii) grows high in the Peruvian Andes, where it has been consumed as a food and traditional botanical for centuries.

Today, researchers are particularly interested in its potential relationship with energy, mood and physical performance.

What's inside it?

Maca contains a range of naturally occurring plant compounds, including distinctive fatty-acid derivatives called macamides, alongside polyphenols and other phytonutrients.

What has the research found?

A 12-week randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study involving 175 adults investigated red and black Maca extracts and reported improvements in measures of mood, energy and health-related quality of life compared with placebo.

Newer research continues to investigate Maca in areas including exercise performance and fatigue, although the overall human evidence base is still smaller than that of more established nutritional ingredients.

Vitamin B5

Vitamin B5

Not every ingredient in Rainbow Dust needs an exotic backstory. Sometimes biology does the talking.

Vitamin B5, also known as pantothenic acid, is an essential vitamin your body needs for normal everyday function.

What does it do?

Vitamin B5 plays an important role in the production of coenzyme A, a molecule involved in the way the body processes carbohydrates, fats and proteins.

Put simply: it's part of the machinery your body uses to turn food into usable energy.

It is also involved in the synthesis and metabolism of certain steroid hormones, vitamin D and some neurotransmitters.

Why it's in Rainbow Dust

Vitamin B5 contributes to:

  • Normal energy-yielding metabolism
  • Normal mental performance
  • The reduction of tiredness and fatigue

No trend. No hype. Just an essential nutrient doing an essential job.

The bigger picture

Real change needs consistency.

Rainbow Dust isn't designed to be a one-and-done quick fix.

Many adaptogens and functional mushrooms have been studied through consistent daily use over several weeks, rather than from a single serving. Researchers studying ingredients like Lion's Mane and Ashwagandha have commonly looked at what happens when people take them every day for extended periods.

That’s why we think about Rainbow Dust as a 90-day ritual, not a 9am rescue mission.

The stats speak for themselves

4000+ customers surveyed after 90 days said:

86%
Feel more focused after drinking Rainbow Dust
83%
Agree that since using Rainbow Dust they feel more productive throughout the day
82%
That since using Rainbow Dust they feel energised without the crash they used to get from coffee
